In Partnership with the Curtis Institute of Music, Virtual Ballet Collective, and Pangea Live, DM.Connect is pleased to announce a new competition for composers and choreographers to have their piece choreographed and recorded. Winning composers will be paired with partnering student-choreographers and will have their pieces performed by Curtis musicians and dancers in the May, 2021.

Prizes:
• Winning composers (up to three will be chosen) will have their work recorded for their use.
• Winners will participate in consultations with Nathan Bales , who will provide guidance and lessons in writing f or dancers, composition, and engraving.
• Winners will be paired with a student-choreographer, who will choreograph a piece to be video recorded and performed with Pangea Live

Eligibility:
• Be a high-school or undergraduate composer, currently enrolled in school.
• Preference will be given to emerging composers who have not had significant opportunities to have their music featured on commercial or other professional recordings.

Program Schedule:
• Submission Deadline: February 5, 2021
• Winners Announced: February 12, 2021
• Composition Student Consultations: February 15-19, 2021
• Deadline for Potential Edits: February 27, 2021
• Performance: May 22, 2021 with Pangea Live

Submission Requirements:
•Instrumentation: Solo Cello, Two Percussionist. Any variation of the ensemble will be accepted, including solo works.
• Core percussion instruments will include marimba and vibraphone (with additional instruments approved by the Dm.Connect coordinator prior to composition.)
• Duration: Pieces from 3 to 7 minutes in length will be accepted.

Application Guidelines:
•Please link your submitted score, as well as two accompanying pieces of varying instrumentation. (MIDI recordings are acceptable) via Dropbox, Google, or other cloud services to DmConnectMusic@gmail.com
